MLBY founder, Jason A. Bottenfield,
was attending an MLBPAA alumni
meeting one evening in 2005
at the Ballpark in Arlington
and realized that young athletes
in the North Texas area could
benefit from the resources
and breadth of knowledge within
the local chapters 250 members.
After going to the president
of the local alumni that night,
Jason decided to take on what
now brings in over 200 plus
young athletes a free baseball
clinic in the North Texas,
the "Legends For Youth"
clinic. Legends for Youth
is a nationally recognized
event that is branded and
supported by the Major League
Baseball Players Alumni.
The North Texas event brings
8-10 professional baseball
players (current and alumni)
to one location each year
for kids to come out and learn
from some of the best in the
game.
Autographs and posters for
all athletes on the field
after the event ends. Special
appearances and other things
will be presented at the event
for the athletes.
MLB Youth was created as the
official website of the North
Texas "Legends For Youth
event to facilitate the ever
growing clinic needs. Since
this event is free for young
athletes in the North Texas
area, it takes local and national
sponsorships to continue it
each year.
Age groups for the event:
9-13
Number of years in existence:
5
